Final conference
"Enhancing participation among Roma"
"Enhancing participation among Roma"
On November 11th (EESC, rue Van Maertlan 2, Brussels), ERIO will held the final conference of the project “Enhancing participation among Roma” funded by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission. The project has been oriented to promote discussion on how to enhance participation among Roma communities. A view at the extreme low levels of participation of Roma in decision making processes at local, national and EU levels will show that there is an urgent need to promote Roma participation. Participation is one of the pillars for promoting democratic values and sense of citizenship.
The project has been carried out in Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania, Spain and United Kingdom. The outcomes of the project at national level will be presented and discussed at the international conference. This conference will serve to exchange information and best practices at national level and to discuss existing participation mechanisms at EU level. Recommendations to enhance participation among Roma at national and EU level will be further discussed, eventually, further developed and approved.
